StarX is a Chrome extension that enables tipping on X (formerly Twitter) using cryptocurrency. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.

Data Collection

What We Collect and Store on Our Servers:

• X (Twitter) Username: When you link your X account, we store your username to enable tipping functionality
• Wallet Address: Your blockchain wallet address (public information)
• Transaction Data: Tip amounts, timestamps, and transaction hashes (all public blockchain data)

What We Store Locally in Your Browser:

• Your wallet address (stored in browser's local storage)
• User preferences and settings

What We DON'T Collect:

• Email addresses, phone numbers, or real names
• Browsing history or activity outside of X/Twitter
• Analytics or tracking data
• Private keys or wallet credentials
• IP addresses (not logged or stored)
• Direct messages or tweet content

How We Use Your Data:

Your X username and wallet address are used solely to:

• Enable tipping functionality on your tweets
• Display tip statistics and history
• Link your X identity to your blockchain wallet

We do not sell, share, or use your data for any purpose other than providing the StarX service.

Blockchain Transactions

StarX facilitates transactions on the Base blockchain. Please note:

• All transactions are publicly visible on the blockchain
• Your wallet address becomes part of the public blockchain record
• We do not control or store blockchain data
• Transaction history is maintained by the blockchain, not by us

Third-Party Services

MetaMask Integration

StarX integrates with MetaMask wallet. When you connect your wallet:

• MetaMask's own privacy policy applies
• We only receive your wallet address
• We do not have access to your private keys
• All transactions require your explicit approval in MetaMask

Backend API

Our backend API processes:

• Tip statistics (public blockchain data)
• Twitter username to wallet address mappings (public)
• No personal or identifying information

Data Security

• Your wallet is controlled by MetaMask, not by us
• We never ask for or have access to private keys
• All blockchain interactions require your explicit approval
• Extension code is open source and publicly auditable

Permissions Explained

StarX requests the following browser permissions:

Storage

Why we need it: To save your wallet address and preferences locally in your browser.
What we do: Store settings only on your device, never transmitted elsewhere.

Active Tab

Why we need it: To inject the StarX tipping button on X/Twitter pages.
What we do: Add interactive elements to tweets you're viewing.

Scripting

Why we need it: To add the tipping functionality to X/Twitter.
What we do: Insert tip buttons and manage tipping interface.

Host Permissions (twitter.com, x.com)

Why we need it: To modify X/Twitter pages and add StarX features.
What we do: Only interact with X/Twitter to provide tipping functionality.

Cookies

StarX does not use cookies. We use Chrome's local storage API for storing preferences, which remains entirely on your device.

Children's Privacy

StarX is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

International Users

StarX can be used worldwide. All data storage is local to your browser. Blockchain transactions are governed by the Base network.
